I always say I’m the wrong kind of Californian because the colder it gets, I become more alive.

The minute I have to put away my coats and boots in the late spring and early summer is a sad moment for me.

With the arrival of autumn comes an array of rich colors, flannels, fedoras, cardigans, long coats and boots, as well as leggings and tights. I fully frolic in the reemergence of the fall frock.

Here are my fall fashion essentials:

  • The classic, cozy cardigan

Two words, cozy cardigan. This is essential upon entering into the chilling weather. I just found this gem at Marshall’s and it screams the epitome of fall vibes. The material feels like butter and having decent size pockets are always a win.

  • Long coat, short dress, thigh-high boots

This ensemble is a sensational show-stopper. In the early autumn, wearing a petite dress, bare-legged with some thigh-high boots covering most of the leg with a nice thick long coat is perfect for this time in the season.

  • Fedora, fall cape, flannel skirt, complete with leggings and boots

I would describe this outfit as the ultimate autumn attire. Indeed, it’s my uniform. Wearing this, I live out my inner English country girl. The hat is a wool fedora from a British brand called Hicks and Brown. It’s become a staple for me. I adore traditional and vintage pieces like this. The cape is from Modcloth, an American online retailer of indie and vintage-inspired women’s clothing. Add a flannel skirt for a flare to your brown tones and voila!
