Never in this time of history has it been so easy to be a hero.

First, they told us to stay home. What?! Getting to watch all the films and documentaries I’ve been wanting to catch up on, spending time with my senior dog Joey, lounging on my couch drinking wine. Ah, effortless heroism.

Now, they ask us to go to your nearest drug store/ grocery store, sit in a chair, roll up our sleeves, and bam! Straightforward, simple, oh, and did I mention, free!

Indeed, being part of a solution to a devastating and deadly disease that gript the globe has never been this accessible, but of course, it doesn’t mean this won’t come with its complications.

I’m not sure what infuriates me more than misinformation and lies on the internet, specifically on social media, which people, more often than not, use as a “credible source” of info.

Over 50% of American adults are now fully vaccinated in the U.S. In California, 43.5% of the population is now vaccinated.

The Biden Administration has been swift in the vaccine distribution rollout. In total, the U.S. has administered roughly 297 million COVID shots since Dec. 2020, beating his initial goal to have 100 million COVID-19 vaccine shots for 50 million people in 100 days. Promise kept!

When feeling uncertain or nervous, we must look to the scientists and official websites. The experts who have extensive experience and education on these imperative issues such as diseases are the people to hold in high regard.

The COVID-19 vaccines have gone through a punctilious procedure and have been authorized for emergency use by the FDA since Dec. 11, 2020.

Did you know? Since the SARS outbreak in 2003, scientists have been working on a vaccine to combat that virus. Because the COVID-19 virus is similar to the SARS virus, scientists have had a nearly two-decade start in preparing for these vaccines.

So, no, this vaccine wasn’t rushed and wasn’t developed out of thin air in a matter of a few months…

Science is my center. It is my guiding light to everything that I see and do.

Science is a proven process. It involves careful observation, applying rigorous skepticism about what is observed. It’s researched, tested, and analyzed based on the experimental findings.

I trust science with my life, which is why I decided to inject my body with the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to CDC.gov, “COVID-19 vaccines help our bodies develop immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19 without us having to get the illness.”

With that in mind, I was ecstatic to get mine. I waited for my turn, and it finally happened.

I received the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on May 1, and the second dose on May 22. I will be considered fully vaccinated on June 5.

So far, I’ve had zero side effects. No sickness at all, so, fortunately, it’s been smooth sailing for me, making it all the more rewarding to be proud I’ve done my part.

There’s a sense of feeling powerful after getting the vaccine.

You made a vital decision to help put an end to this virus that took over the entire world. No city, no country on Earth was spared. And now you can look back and rest assured that you were part of the millions of people who slowed down this virus dead in its tracks.

Now is not the time to deny facts. We are still in a full-fledged raging global pandemic. Now is the time to be a part of the solution to end the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

I believe it is our perfunctory human obligation.

It’s time. Roll up your sleeve. Get to work and get vaxxed.
