Take a stroll into Vintage YSJ where it’s as if you’re stepping back in time to old Hollywood glamour heaven. They offer a charmingly curated collection of vintage and, yes, modern clothing from every era in the last century. This store is a true treasure.

It can be challenging to find that perfect boutique to fulfill that classic and timeless attire fix. For all you die-hard vintage thrifters, look no farther.

Located in the heart of Midtown Sacramento, this mother and daughter duo store has been my absolute favorite since I discovered it in 2019.

The moment you walk in, you receive the warmest welcome from the storeowners Maggie, who is the mother, and Yasmine, the daughter, and the other siblings who take turns looking after the store as well.

A true family business, Maggie named the store after the first initials of each of her children’s names. She and Yasmine opened their store in 2008.

Born in Louisiana and grew up in Sacramento, Maggie has had a love for fashion since she was young and loving her mother’s style in the 1950s.

“I always imagined opening up my own shop,” Maggie said. “Fashion to me is an expression of oneself.”

Maggie and Yasmine find their vintage clothes and jewelry by sourcing from estate sales, thrifting, and vintage collectors.

Why vintage? The answer is simple. Maggie explained that not only is buying something previously loved better for the environment, but you get excellent deals on high fashion and even higher quality materials that might’ve been out of reach.

When shopping vintage thrift, this store will be your paradise.

This is the first outfit I bought. I absolutely adore this cute green polka-dot skirt and crop top set. It immediately caught my eye when walking by. I went in, tried it on, and fell in love. I wore it to a baby shower and many other spring events. The perfect outfit for a fun day in the sun. This is when my love affair with Vintage YSJ began.

This lavender satin skirt was my next investment. Perfect for the spring or summer. It’s light and flowy. You can dress it up or down. I love wearing nice skirts like these in a comfy t-shirt and sneakers. You could also wear a blouse and heels for a date night. I love versatile pieces like these. Effortlessly exquisite!

I saw this vintage newspaper dress on their Instagram and I had to have it! It has everything I love in a dress. I love the straps, the midriff slit, as well as, the slit on the side of the leg. Especially as a writer, this dress spoke to me. I messaged them on their Instagram letting them know about the dress and then paid them through Venmo. Super easy. You can pick it up in the store or have it shipped to your home! Also, paired it with a vintage rhinestone choker necklace I bought from them as well.

This dress I must say has to be one of my most prized possessions. I love the simplicity and elegance of this vintage curve-hugging dress in the color sand. It ties on the shoulder and backless. It fits like a glove. So comfortable and lovely. I’m sad to say, I haven’t gotten a chance to wear this stunner in public yet since I bought it during the pandemic. However, I’m hopeful I will get to wear it soon. I can’t wait to show it off. I paired it again with the rhinestone choker necklace and this wonderful vintage bag also from Vintage YSJ as well. Needless to say, I am utterly obsessed.
