I want to post my dad’s obituary that I drafted and published here. It is also officially published on legacy.com.

In Loving Memory of Jeff Schreiber: Passionate Bay Area Concrete Truck Driver and Finisher, Devoted Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend

Jeffrey “Jeff” Lowell Schreiber, a resident of San Jose, California, died on Friday, May 5th in Monterey, California, after losing his battle with lung cancer. Surrounded by his four daughters and the mother of his children, Jeff was 71.

Born on May 4, 1952, in Stockton, California, to Goldie L. Hill and Vernon A. Schreiber Jr., Jeff was an intelligent and ambitious individual with an insatiable curiosity. In his 20s, he set out on various adventures, including obtaining his pilot’s license and soaring above the Bay Area. He also relocated to the East Coast, where he established his own successful janitorial business in Florida.

In 1981, Jeff moved to Monterey, where he met then Linda L. Luetke, and two years later, they eloped in Lake Tahoe. Together, they ventured into real estate investment, flipping houses along the Peninsula. However, Jeff would say that his greatest accomplishment was becoming a father to his four beautiful daughters: Alexis, Margaret, Lisa, and Kathleen.

For an impressive span of 35 years, Jeff plunged into a remarkable career as a concrete mixer truck driver, shaping the foundation of Silicon Valley and the booming Bay Area. His expertise contributed to renowned establishments, including Levi Stadium, Google, and Apple. Jeff took immense pride in showcasing his contributions, as he was fascinated by the rapid growth and evolution of these dynamic organizations.

Additionally, his passion for concrete finishing was evident in his meticulous craftsmanship, which graced countless driveways and porches for neighbors and friends. His colleagues often marveled at Jeff’s unwavering work ethic, playfully acknowledging that his long hours were unmatched. At Central Concrete in San Jose, he was recognized as the hardest-working, most skilled driver, holding the esteemed position until his well-deserved retirement in 2021.

Upon retiring at the age of 69, Jeff embarked on a fulfilling journey, exploring various U.S. cities and countries, and immersing himself in new experiences abroad. Ultimately, he returned home to be with his family, cherishing the bonds he shared with his daughters. Even after his separation from Linda a decade prior, they remained devoted parents and steadfast friends till the end. Jeff passed away in the same hospital where all four of his daughters were welcomed into the world.

Jeff will forever be remembered as a loving father, supportive brother, caring uncle, admired friend, and his overall abiding dedication. Jeff had an infectious enthusiasm for reading and sharing his love for history, politics, sports, finance, and architecture. His spontaneous nature and his sharp sense of humor will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jeff leaves behind a legacy survived by his four daughters, Alexis, Margaret, Lisa, and Kathleen, along with the mother of their children, Linda. He is also remembered by his sons-in-law, Michael and Karl, his sister, Verna, and his nephews, Jason, Jeffrey, and Jonathan.

May Jeff’s soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and uplift those who were touched by his extraordinary presence.
